Lotusbloem foundation supports Koggala
On 26 December 2004 a large number of people in southeast Asia lost their lives or their family members and friends. The tsunami had also caused a massive devastation in Koggala, Sri Lanka, a fisherman village on the South coast. We, a group of thirteen Dutch, now engaged into the Lotusbloem Foundation, stayed in a hotel at the beach near Koggala on the 26th of december.

We met each other in the Buddhist convent in Koggala, where we have been taken care of after our hotel had been overflowed by the waves. We have all different backgrounds but have one thing in common: we all feel committed to the people of Koggala. Especially after the monk asked us on our departure: ' Please don't forget the Srilankan people.'
Back in the Netherlands we had already had contact with the monk after three days. He explained us their situation and we concluded that we needed to help them survive. After one week, Ronne and Hugo returned to Koggala packed with 400 kilos of aid goods. Next to supplying this emergency aid we are working on setting up a structural project for the children of Koggala.
